Bruny Island, off the southern coast of Tasmania, is two islands joined by a narrow isthmus called 'The Neck'. It lies 40 km south of Hobart, along the A6 to Kettering, where the vehicular ferry, the 'Mirambeena', departs for North Bruny Island several times a day. We visited it one blustery (but sunny) day in December 2004.
