Bruges is an almost perfectly preserved medieval town in western Belgium. Think stepped facades, cobblestoned streets, lovely stone bridges, quiet canals and reflective lakes.
There are two central squares (Markt and Burg) where the most eleaborate buildings, including the Belfry, can be found. A little further south is the picturesque Minnewater lake (also known as 'the lake of love') where we spent a pleasant afternoon wandering around.
All the photographs in this gallery were taken in December 2001 using a SLR camera. Note that the quality of the scanning is quite poor in some of these pictures.
