Bike the Big Apple is a small company that runs scheduled and "on demand" bicycle tours around the five boroughs of New York. I opted for an "on demand" tour and chose the 8-hour "Bike Delight Tour" which crosses several bridges and is designed for those wanting a "unique, faster paced, and challenging ride". Luckily, there was one other person -- from Wales -- who wanted to do the same tour on the same day, so we split the cost and let our guide, the intrepid Jesse, lead the way. It was a brilliant way to see bits of New York I wouldn't normally have seen on foot. And despite its length -- 26 miles -- it wasn't too exhausting.
All these photographs were taken on Thursday October 18, 2007 using a Panasonic DMC-TZ3 digital camera. Note that most of them were taken while riding a bike (or at least holding a bike), so they're not always framed as nicely as I would have liked.
